Behavior Expectations

Behavior Expectations @ Old Abes Library

In order to make the library a welcoming place for all, we ask students to please:

  • Limit snacks and drinks to water in the library
  • Enjoy the library in a way that doesn't disturb other people or damage anything
  • Clean up and return items to their places
  • Use a lanyard, leave phone, and sign out on our log if leaving the library
  • Follow all school rules

Library Passes

Library Passes

  • Students visiting the library during Periods 1-7 must have a pass issued from a teacher. 
  • No pass is needed to visit the library before school, after school, or at lunch.

Quick Visits

  • You'll be returning to class - ask your teacher to write you a purple paper pass or take your classroom's lanyard

Stay for the Hour

  • Ask your teacher to issue you an online pass
  • Sign in at the library desk when you arrive (you are marked absent in Skyward if you don't)
  • Plan to stay the entire hour

Borrowing Materials

Borrowing Materials from Old Abes Library

General Information

  • All books, technology, and textbooks check in and out through the library
  • There are no daily late fines
  • However, replacement costs are charged for lost or damaged items
  • Return books in the books drops at the library desk and in the hallway outside of the library
  • Please return all tech to a library staff member
  • Payments for lost/damaged library books, textbooks, and technology can be made:
    • in the library with cash or check (make checks out to "ECASD")
    • online with a card at My School Bucks (look for "Invoices")

Library Books

  • Check out for 4 weeks
  • You may check out as many items from the library as you can keep track of
  • Renew online or in the library
  • Our library books support our curriculum and the varied interests of 14 through 18-year-olds

Textbooks

  • Check out for a quarter, semester, or year depending on the class

Equipment

Technology

  • Student laptops check out for the year
  • All students are issued a charger when they get their laptop
  • Art iPads check out for a semester
  • Daily-use chargers and laptop must be returned at the end of the day
