Native American Heritage Month is celebrated in November. This libguide has collected books and resources that will help you recognize the month with your students.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction created the Wisconsinfirstnations.org website with resources including videos, materials, and lesson plans. This is a great resource to learn about the tribes located within Wisconsin. Did you know that Wisconsin Act 31 requires schools to provide instruction on the history, culture, and tribal sovereignty of the eleven federally-recognized tribes within Wisconsin?
If you would like resources from the Library of Congress, Smithsonian, Gallery of Art and other resources check out the Native American Heritage Month For Teacher's website for a wealth of teaching resources.
Pebble Go Next also has an entire section on American Indian History to explore. It has information on American Indians today and a wealth of information on different tribal nations by region. Students and teachers can access Pebble Go Next through Clever.
PBS Wisconsin also has great video content. For example their program Indigi-Genius tells the story of Indigenous creations and knowledge of the past and today.
