Native American Heritage Month is celebrated in November! 

This LibGuide has collected books and resources that will help you recognize the month with your students.

Books:

If you would like to check out books from the Putnam Heights library, use the tabs at the top of the page to find the book that fits your criteria. Click on the title of the book, and it will bring you to the Putnam Heights catalog to see if it is checked in. The focus on most of the books in this LibGuide are authentic voices from Native American authors and illustrators.

Wisconsin First Nations:

This  is a website resource with educational videos and tools/lessons to utilize in the classroom. Some of the resources include The Ways video series, Wisconsin Biographies, a tribal lands map, and links to the official pages for the American Indian Nations of Wisconsin.

PBK Kids:

View Videos with Molly of Denali. ages K-3.

 

PBS Learning Lab For Teachers:

Videos and articles with lessons about Indigenous Peoples' history, culture, and art.

Online Databases:

Use Clever to access these databases. Directions for logging in are here. 

 

Pebble Go Next (Grades 3-5): On the homepage is a collection for Indigenous People's Histories. 

 

Britannica School: Search in Britannica School to find articles, pictures, and videos about Native American history and culture.

 

Discovery Education: Here is a lesson for 3-5 titled Who are Native Americans? Here is a channel on Discovery Ed titled Celebrating Native American Heritage for grades K-5.
